Robert De Niro Crosses Line In New Attack On Trump: “He Doesn’t Care if People Die, Only Pretends To Care”

“It’s like Shakespearean, the whole thing. You’ve got a lunatic saying things that people are trying to dance around,” De Niro said before he crossed the line in his new attack on Trump.

“It’s appalling. He wants to be reelected, he doesn’t even care how many people die,” he added.

“He doesn’t care,” De Niro said. “The people he pretends to care about are the people he has the most disdain for. He could care less about them. They might like to tell themselves that or delude themselves, but he doesn’t care about them.”

“I just never thought I would see anything like this in my lifetime,” he said. “I’ve taken many things for granted and I see when something like this happens that we all have to take it very seriously — to say the least — and we have to stop it.”

“And that’s what I’m hoping in November, the election, we can come back to some sanity here.”

De Niro added that was eerie to see his hometown, New York City like a “ghost town.”

“It’s kind of like a science fiction movie, but it’s real,” he said.

Look, this pandemic took the whole world by storm and shut it all down. Countries have taken different approaches and none of them appear perfect.

We shut down and flattened the curve as we were told was necessary. No hospitals were overrun like in Wuhan or Milan.

If we see spikes or hospitals get an uptick in patients we can scale back down but we don’t have a vaccine and unless the government is going to pay everyone to sit at home, which they won’t unless you are a big shot on Wall Street, we have limited options.

There is no conspiracy, Trump doesn’t want anyone to die, he wants the country to safely reopen (as are many countries in Europe, Bob) and he will close it down again if we need to. Let’s wait for Florida and Georgia and other states to bring back data on their reopenings before we start making hysterical claims.
