Florida Republican Governor Ron DeSantis during his 2022 State Of The State Address on Tuesday urged Florida lawmakers to pass a bill that was announced last month that would effectively ban tax payor money from the state funds from going to schools that are teaching critical race theory and allow parents to sue school districts that are including such curriculum for kids.

“We reject the notion that parents shouldn’t have a say in what their kids learn in school,” DeSantis said during his speech at the State Of The State Address.

Indeed, Florida law should provide parents with the right to review the curriculum used in their children’s schools. We should provide parents with recourse so that state standards are enforced, such as Florida’s prohibition on infusing subjects with critical race theory in our classrooms,” he added.

The legislation was announced by the governor back in December. This bill, titled ‘Stop Wrongs To Our Kidd And Employees Act’ or ‘Stop WOKE Act’ if passed will be one of the first of its kind and will stop both woke corporations and schools from teaching Critical Race Theory.

“In Florida we are taking a stand against the state-sanctioned racism that is critical race theory. We won’t allow Florida tax dollars to be spent teaching kids to hate our country or to hate each other.” Gov. DeSantis said at the time of this announcement last month.

We also have a responsibility to ensure that parents have the means to vindicate their rights when it comes to enforcing state standards. Finally, we must protect Florida workers against the hostile work environment that is created when large corporations force their employees to endure CRT-inspired ‘training’ and indoctrination,” he added.

Earlier this month, the Florida legislature also introduce a bill that would allow video, and audio recordings in classrooms. This bill, HB1055 was sponsored by Florida Republican State Representative Bob Rommel from Naples.
